Google has been hinting at a newer, much large penguin with claws for a while and just a few hours before the new penguin update (2.0) went live Matt Cutts gives the heads up on this video.
The new penguin update that Matt Cutts refers to as Penguin 2.0 was expected to be much larger than the previous version of penguin.
On his own blog Matt posted this update “We started rolling out the next generation of the Penguin webspam algorithm this afternoon (May 22, 2013), and the rollout is now complete. About 2.3% of English-US queries are affected to the degree that a regular user might notice.”
Matt goes a little further in this video where at 4:29 he mentions “If you’ve been hanging out on a lot of black hat forums, or trading different types of spam package tips. Then it might be a more eventful summer”. Penguin 2.0 is dedicated to find black hat webspam and they expect it to go a little deeper and have more of an impact than the original version.
